Impregnated activated carbon
For special applications we also make impregnated activated carbon. Impregnated activated carbon is activated carbon that has been impregnated with a chemical in a concentration that is suitable for the required application. The impregnating agent and the substance to be removed react in a process known as chemisorption. The chemical reaction enhances the level of adsorption and extends the use life of the activated carbon.
Impregnated activated carbon can be used in desulphurisation of biogas, removal of mercury from gas, adsorption of ammonia and acidic components from gases (SO2, H2S, HCN), and the treatment of drinking water with silver halide.
